The Gresso Waterfall and the Gresso Escarpment Walkway take us to discover a mountain river, a tributary of the Vouga River, which originates at an altitude of almost 800 metres. This river runs for 7 km as it descends to its mouth, with a drop of more than 700 metres. For this reason, there are several cascades and waterfalls that have little flow in summer but fill up with the winter rains.

There are two outstanding waterfalls along the river, Moinho Velho and Cascata do Gresso or Escarpa do Gresso.

Walking along the trail leads to the discovery of a shady woodland with a very closed and particular riparian gallery.
