Monte do Castêlo

Castêlo was a small walled settlement at the highest point of the parish of Cedrim from the late Bronze Age, as evidenced by some artefacts found there in the 1980s. This is where the natural viewpoint of Castêlo is located, at an altitude of 512 metres, a natural observation point of the Médio Vouga valley and the parishes of Sever do Vouga and Pessegueiro do Vouga. A site of high geomorphological interest, with a wide visual domain, it was once chosen for the settlement of people concerned with territorial control and defence.
