"Sepultura do Rei" is a cist of megalithic tradition. It is a type of monument that has never before been excavated in the municipality, nor is there any other known example in the region. For this reason, the information gathered during the archaeological intervention (excavation) proves to be fundamental for understanding a completely different chronological period from the one known and studied so far through the few interventions carried out on the municipality's megalithic monuments.
This is a grave of megalithic tradition in a cist probably dating from the Neo-Chalcolithic period, a chronological period that is little or not known in this region.
This cist has its funerary depositional space completely gutted and tampered with, with only two pillars, but threatened with ruin, as it is very weakened by the successive violations to which it has been subjected; the roof slab was dislocated from its original position.
